1,500 new apartments in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem

1,500 new apartments will be built in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem, replacing 300 old apartments in Shikun-style buildings, the Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee has decided. As part of the plan, commercial and employment areas and public buildings will also be built.

The plan covers a total area of 16 hectares, at the corner of the streets along the Hebron - Hauman road. The new homes will be built in seven towers of 34 to 42 floors (in place of 7 residential buildings of 4 to 5 floors). The ground floors will hold commercial and work areas, along with dormitories, 9 kindergarten classrooms and two synagogues, while the public areas will occupy 3 hectares. 300 of the new apartments will be small apartments of up to 55 square meters.

Shira Ptolomeo Babai, Chair of the Jerusalem District Committee: "This urban renewal plan is part of the district committee's vision to improve urban quality of life in Jerusalem and the quality of life of the neighborhood's residents. The plan makes the best use of existing municipal infrastructure and improves the neighborhood's access to the light rail line, while increasing commercial and employment areas for the benefit of the neighborhood's residents and the wider region."

The plan was submitted by the Jerusalem Municipality, Barzani Deblinger and Aura Israel Enterprises and Investments, and was prepared by Rosenfeld Arenas Architects Ltd.
