The Jerusalem Municipality, through the local Planning and Building Committee, approved for deposit with the District Planning and Building Committee an evacuate-and-rebuild plan for the complex at Silver Officer Street, Bethlehem Road and Hebron Road in the Talpiot neighborhood.
The complex currently holds 134 old units in two 4-floor buildings, with a small commercial strip facing Hebron Road. The plan area is approximately 7.3 dunams and proposes demolishing the existing buildings and building 3 residential towers of 35 floors, including 546 units with about 2,000 square meters of commercial space, with commercial frontage on Hakatzin Silver Street and Hebron Road.
The company will begin marketing and building the project in July 2024. The plan's architect is the firm Rosenfeld Architects.
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon said: "This is another diverse and special urban renewal plan being advanced on Hebron Road, which will change its face into a lively, bustling urban street that includes a mix of uses for commerce, employment and residence. It is a plan that will allow more Jerusalemites and young couples from all over the country to settle in our city and raise the next generation here, with quality of life and in renewed, attractive areas."
