The planned new neighborhood in Jerusalem: 3,500 apartments!

The planned new neighborhood in Jerusalem: 3,500 apartments in 45-floor towers and 1,300 hotel rooms

The local planning and building committee last week recommended the deposit of a plan for the establishment of a new neighborhood near Hebron Road and an important historical and archaeological area. 30% of the homes will be designated for rent. The plan will also include 150,000 square meters for employment and commerce.

The complex will include residential towers of 16 to 45 floors, open public areas, public buildings and institutions, as well as employment and commercial areas of approximately 150 thousand square meters, plus a hotel area of approximately 58,000 square meters, with approximately 1,300 hotel rooms planned to be built in 16-floor buildings along the Hebron Road axis.

The plan also proposes that 30% of the proposed housing units (approximately 1,000 units) be designated for rent, in order to respond to the general need for rental apartments and as a response to urban renewal programs. The committee decided, following instructions from the planning director, that 20% of the apartments offered will have a maximum area of 55 square meters.

The Jerusalem Municipality stated: "This is an important plan that also expands the supply of housing for families in the capital. This is the right path for the prosperity and development of Jerusalem, which in recent years has been going through a historic and accelerated process of renewal. The promotion of thousands of housing units, employment and commerce will help young couples and families settle there. All this, together with the preservation of important historical sites in the capital city."

Gil Geva, chairman of the Tidhar Group, said: "This transaction is part of the implementation of Tidhar's strategy in the coming years and adds to another 12 neighborhoods that are being planned and built as part of the group's activities. We see the project as a significant contribution to the development of the city of Jerusalem, creating high-quality, forward-looking, innovative and sustainable living spaces for the benefit of all the city's residents."
