84 Units to Be Demolished, 400 New Units in Their Place

As part of the project, it is proposed to demolish 84 units located in 4 buildings on Island St. in the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood of Jerusalem, and to build in their place about 400 new units, in two towers of about 25 stories and two additional buildings of about 10 stories each. It is also proposed to combine commercial space. Zeev Greenberg, Vice President of the company Mider, says that, following the conference, the companies expect to reach the required majority of signatures in a few months. According to him, "the neighborhood is a very old neighborhood with dilapidated buildings in a strategic location. We are planning, in coordination with the municipality, to renew the entire neighborhood. It was quite complicated to connect the tenant groups in the complex, but after a great deal of effort we managed to do so. We expect to reach the required majority within a few months."

Gal Castel, Deputy CEO of Oron Real Estate, says: "Oron believes in urban renewal as a basic condition for preserving human life and reducing socioeconomic disparities, and therefore invests many resources in promoting thousands of housing units at various stages of planning and execution. The Jerusalem project joins the dozens of projects we are promoting these days and we are happy to begin."

The architect of the plan is Boaz Bitman of the Bitman Ben Tzur office.
