New Project Approved at the Historic Davidka Square: A Total of 42,000 Square Meters

The Jerusalem Municipality has approved a new project, "Davidka," at the historic square in the city center
Under the plan approved by the local committee, two residential and commercial towers will be built in place of the existing apartments and the hostel. There will also be access to the high-speed train station planned to be built below, about 80 meters deep, with elevators and an appropriate plan for moving the many passengers

The Davidka project is expected to change the face of Jaffa Street. As part of it, the existing building, which currently houses a hostel, commercial spaces and several dozen apartments, will be demolished. In its place, two residential towers will be built, including 270 apartments, above several basement floors that will contain commercial, hotel and employment areas, for a total of 42,000 square meters.

The project, designed by architects Ian Bader of New York (who also designed the new wing of the Louvre Museum) and Aharon Zilberstein of Jerusalem, is also expected to improve the entrance to the intercity train station planned for the site, as part of the extension of the line connecting Tel Aviv with Jerusalem. According to the plan, two new stations will be added: in the city center (next to the Davidka project) and at the Khan complex. The project at the Davidka complex will include an entrance to the train station, including the emergency shafts required for it, whose construction will not require the use of public space. The project was initiated by ABNR Even Israel Residence and the Ben David Group, headed by Jerusalem businessman Nachum Rosenberger.
