Jerusalem Has the Most Apartments Sold in the August-October 2023 Quarter

Jerusalem tops the list of cities with the most apartments sold in the August-October 2023 quarter (540 apartments), followed by Ashkelon (533) and Ashdod (484). The localities with the sharpest increases in the August-October 2023 quarter compared with the previous three months (May-July 2023) are Beer Ya'akov, Rosh Ha'Ein and Ashdod.

The localities with sharp declines in the August-October 2023 quarter compared with the previous three months are Rishon Lezion, Sderot and Tel Aviv-Yafo. Rishon Lezion (the "wine city") fell almost 70%, at 69.2%, followed by Sderot at 66.7%, and in Tel Aviv-Yafo, the "non-stop city", the drop was 32%.

Reading between the lines of the data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics on real estate transactions for purchases of new apartments between August and October 2023, an interesting trend can be identified: in these three months, 6,350 new apartments were sold, a decrease of 18.4% compared with the previous three months, May-July 2023.

In addition, 28.8% of the new apartments sold were government-subsidized. About 27.9% of the new apartments sold were in the Southern district and about 22.7% in the Central district. About a quarter (24.6%) of all new apartments sold are concentrated in the cities of Jerusalem, Ashkelon and Ashdod.
